Description
Askja No7 is not wood, nor is it petrified wood but a fascinating example of natural mimicry. It is made from rhyolite, a volcanic rock formed when lava rich in silica cools quickly. The patterns that look like tree rings are actually created by the flow of lava, not by the growth of a tree. It’s a natural piece of art from the volcanic landscape of Iceland.
