Description

Askja No6 is made from rhyolite. The surface, polished to reveal the stone’s intricate details, features a mottled pattern of earthy tones—creams, oranges, and deep browns to purple, a rare detail. These hues reflect the diverse composition of the stone, which likely includes a mix of quartz, feldspar, and iron oxides, resulting from the rapid cooling of volcanic lava. Unique in its formation, Askja No6 is as much a geological specimen as it is a functional work of art.
