Description
From the heart of the Icelandic Highlands, Askja No1 is made of rhyolite, a rock formed from the rapid cooling of lava that is abundant in silica. Its marble-like appearance—with swirling patterns of white, gold, and gray—is due to the complex intermingling of minerals within the lava as it cooled. The patterns are not only beautiful but tell the tale of the rock’s volcanic origin, capturing the dynamic movements of the Earth’s crust.
